Even though your all-natural Comfort ‘n’ Confidence™ external breast prosthesis by Au Naturel Solutions Inc. is antibacterial, moisture wicking and breathable it will still pick up body oils and bacteria daily. To keep your prostheses looking and feeling great it is important to care for it well.

The following instructions will help you care for your all-natural breast prosthesis

Outer Shell

Weekly care: 

We recommend spot wash the back of the prosthesis as it is the part that rests against the skin. It would be best to give it a light wash at least once a week. 

1. Remove and fluff the fleece, set aside until you are ready to put it back in the outer shell.
2. Dampen a clean cloth. 
3. Dab at the back of the prosthesis. You can insert your hand or fingers to create a barrier between the back and the felt. It takes longer for the felt to dry, so you want to keep it from getting wet as much as possible!

Monthly:

If you are wearing your prosthesis over 8 hours a day every day, I recommend washing the outer shell of your prosthesis with mild soap and warm water as often as needed.

1. Remove and reserve the fill.
2. Hand wash the outer shell of your prosthesis. 
3. Place the outer shell of your prosthesis between a folded, dry towel.
4. Compress with the palm of your hand to remove moisture.
5. Turn it over and repeat the compression. It takes about 24 to 48 hours to dry thoroughly.
6. Once it is dry, add and readjust the fleece to your liking.

Fleece

Weekly care:

When you spot-wash your prosthesis, take out and fluff your fleece using the comb or your fingers. 

Monthly:

To keep your Comfort ‘n’ Confidence™ external breast prosthesis clean, it is recommended to wash the fleece either once a month with mild soap and warm water or when washing the outer shell. Here are the steps to clean the fleece: 

1. Put the fleece in warm water, ensuring it is fully covered. 
2. Let it soak for 20-30 minutes. 
3. Drain the container and refill it with clean, warm water. 
4. Let the fleece soak for another 20-30 minutes. 
5. Gently squeeze out the water and lay the fleece on a flat mesh surface to dry. 
6. Use the provided comb or your fingers to fluff the fleece before putting it back into the prosthesis.

While your prosthesis is squishable you will want to retain its shape when you are not wearing it. Store your Comfort ‘n’ Confidence™ external all-natural breast prosthesis in the original box.
